About Sharon

Why Sharon Started Mind Body Bedroom

While Australia provides a high standard of clinical care before and during breast cancer surgery, I believe there remains a significant gap in the support women receive once surgery is complete. Post-surgical recovery is not only physical—it is emotional, psychological, and deeply personal—and this phase often receives far less structured guidance than it deserves.

Too often, women who have undergone life-changing breast surgery are expected to independently navigate the process of restoring comfort, confidence, and a sense of normalcy. Access to appropriate garments, breast forms, and professional fittings is frequently treated as a retail process rather than an integrated part of recovery, leaving many women to source solutions on their own during an already vulnerable time.

What Drives Sharon

Sharon is passionate about empowering women to feel confident and supported post a breast cancer diagnosis and understands that thoughtful post-surgical care can play a vital role in helping women reconnect with their bodies and regain a sense of self as they return to their roles within families, communities, and relationships.

In addition to practical support, Sharon provides counselling to help women navigate the emotional and identity-based challenges that often accompany breast cancer surgery, including feelings around intimacy, self-image and navigating change. Her aim is to complement existing medical care by advocating for a more holistic, patient-centred approach that supports women not only through treatment, but through true recovery.

About Sharon

Sharon Douglas is a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Breast Care, a qualified counsellor, and an accredited breast form fitter with over a decade of healthcare experience. She holds a Bachelor of Nursing, a Graduate Diploma in Counselling, and a Graduate Certificate in Breast Oncology, and has almost completed a master’s-level study at the University of Canberra.

While Australia provides strong clinical care before and during breast cancer surgery, Sharon identified a significant gap in post-surgical support. Recovery after breast surgery is not only physical — it is emotional, psychological, and deeply personal — yet women are often left to navigate garments, breast forms, and fittings as a retail experience rather than as part of their recovery.

Recognising a gap in post surgical care, Sharon opened Queensland’s first breast care nurse-led breast form fitting clinic at the Gold Coast Breast Centre. This holistic service brings together professional prosthesis fittings, specialist counselling, and a carefully curated range of garments and wellness products, designed to support comfort, confidence, dignity, and quality of life.

Sharon’s work is grounded in compassionate, evidence-based, person-centred care, supporting women not only through treatment, but through true recovery.

In an exciting and pioneering step, Sharon is opening Queensland’s first breast care nurse-led prosthesis fitting clinic at the Gold Coast Breast Centre. This unique, holistic clinic is designed to meet the diverse physical and emotional needs of women following a breast cancer diagnosis.

The service will offer professional breast prosthesis fittings, specialist counselling, and a curated range of garments, lingerie, and wellness products aimed at restoring confidence, dignity, and quality of life.

Sharon’s vision is to create a safe, supportive environment where women can access tailored, expert care in one dedicated space. Her dual qualifications in nursing and counselling allow her to address both the physical impacts of breast surgery and the often under-recognised emotional and psychological challenges faced by her clients.

Passionate about improving outcomes and access to services for women affected by breast cancer, Sharon’s clinic represents a compassionate, innovative model of care that places women’s needs and wellbeing at its heart.
